1. Filters should be changed every two weeks. However, if you have more pets, notice more debris or slime, or the fountain's water flow is decreased, this means you may need to clean the fountain or replace the filters more often.
2. All filters must be soaked in a clean bowl for 5 minutes and rinsed under cold water for 1 minute before use. Loose black particles will be rinsed out from the carbon filter. These particles are harmless to your pets but can appear in the fountain bowl if the filter is not thoroughly rinsed.
